Welcome to my home page! I hope you find what you're looking for. You might even find parts of it here: just don't ask me for assembly instructions...

Things that make me go Hmm!

Understatement of the year approaching at forty knots: I'm a little keen on roller coasters. I and a bunch of friends whom I met in the RCCGB have done three sponsored roller coaster marathons for charity, riding all day to raise money. These have all taken place at Oakwood Leisure Park. In September 2004 we rode the Treetops roller coaster all day for the charity SANE, and in May 2005 and May 2006 we rode the park's prize woodie, Megafobia in aid of Cancer Research UK and the NSPCC respectively. There is of course, also the little matter of having ridden Nemesis at Alton Towers completely naked. here's a BBC story (note: the picture is of the wrong coaster, taken at the Nemesis Inferno record earlier that year, which was superseded by the one in which I took part. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to feel alive and do something totally off the track (pun intended) - and I don't regret it for a second! It was a great experience. I have the certificate hanging on my wall, from Guinness World Records. I don't think I'd do it again: it was like my parachute jump, or getting my tattoo - a one-off. I have a habit of collecting experiences, but that doesn't mean I want to keep repeating all of them...

I love the English language, and I'm quite passionate about accuracy and clarity - so if you see something that's not right on this site, plaese tell me as soon as possible: I'd hate to think there were mistakes on here.

I like to compile crosswords, and play games with words and make puns. I used to have four poems on this site, but I removed them because I was too picky and didn't think they were my best efforts. However, I do intend to include some poetry again at some point. In the mean time, I content myself with typing this stuff.

From the moment I first wrote every number from 1 to 1,000 on a pile of old Christmas cards as a child, my parents knew that they would always have a geek in the family. Even now, they themselves have surrendered to the onslaught of the modern world and have now "got online".

Anyway, one thing led to another and soon I was a successful and highly-paid director of a DotCom company, driving an Aston Martin Vantage and jetting off to go skiing four times a year. Well, that's a slight exaggeration, but perhaps you can guess which parts are true. That's right - I actually did do a day's skiing in the Alps once.

My addiction to all things software has made me fairly softwary, and I now regard many aspects of the modern computing world with deep suspicion, and, occasionally, loathing. But, like most people on the Asperger/Caffeine axis, I am trapped in an eternal cycle of doom: I simply cannot stop. The upshot of this is that I still work in the I.T. industry, as opposed to the obvious alternatives such as forestry, rock stardom or modelling. Ahem.

Anyway, I first got onto the World Wide Web back in 1995, and it wasn't until 2005 that I finally got myself an actual home page of any import. So that just goes to show that you can lead a Nerd to be Hyper, but you can't make him Link.

That was an attempt at a joke. I like jokes. I like practical jokes, too - plaese be aware of that as you read my words.

This is my main photo and video site, containing various roller coaster photos and so on, and some family stuff. Now upgraded to the new version of the software, it's much slicker than before!
This is my fotopic site, which still has a lot of pictures on it. I shall be moving them over to the gallery here when I have some time to do so. I may then continue to put temporary stuff on Fotopic, or stuff that isn't important enough to go on here. Until then, it's a double-act.
I have been playing keyboards in bands since about 1988. This is my current band, which specialises in soul, blues, swing and funk in varying amounts. I've also played rock, Latin jazz, salsa, and something without a label, which was known as High Tension Generation, and was a Force Of Nature...
This is a little project of mine, which I'm currently being rather quiet about - so I won't say what it is yet, exactly. However, the site will give you some clues as to what kind of idea is being used. More on this later!
This shows which coasters I have ridden and how many times. Note: you may not be able to access this unless you have your own account on
Another coaster counting site I use. You shouldn't need your own account to view my stats on this one. It has a nicer presentation to it, but it does lack actual number of times ridden as a statistic, so for the foreseeable future I'll be updating both of them.
Here's my blog. I use this to comment on web stories, but also post personal news there, so if you know me you might want to take a look. Sometimes I go for a while without updating it, so even if it looks as if there's no activity, please check back occasionally.
The Blue Buzzards are a group of friends who like to visit Theme Parks and ride, in general, all kinds of rides - and in particular, the flying scooters! I'm proud to say that I am a member of the Flying Scooters Display Team (Grey Hawk Squadron). Chocks Away! CONTACT! The Buzzards also have a message board, where I can be found posting most days.
Home page of the European Coaster Club. I have been a member for a year or so now, and attended my first club trip on October 15th 2005, to Flamingoland (see video below).
More links to be added soon - keep checking back!
